Howard Werner, most known for his direct-carving of sculpture and furniture, brings together a commanding group of sculptural objects for this two-person exhibition. Trained in the studio crafts movement of the 1970s, Werner found freedom in the work of Brancusi and Noguchi, and from there began using the chainsaw and other non-traditional carving techniques to create monumental sculpture as well as small vessels and objects, all from trees felled by storms.

Michelle Stuhl's new body of work is influenced by her visit to Peru. Working with graphite and poured translucent encaustic surfaces on panel as well as oil paintings and saturated encaustic on canvas, Stuhl pays homage to the culture of Peru by using Quechuan titles and symbolism in the work to celebrate the magnitude of their ideas and accomplishments. Werner and Stuhl share a minimalist aesthetic and often exhibition their work together.
