Route 66 Centennial Railyard Rev Up – October 4

Route 66 Centennial Railyard Rev Up

Established in 1926, Route 66 quickly became one of the most famous highways in America, stretching over 2,400 miles from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California. Known as the “Mother Road,” it was a vital path for travelers heading west, especially during the Dust Bowl migration of the 1930s, when thousands of families sought new opportunities in California. Over the decades, Route 66 symbolized freedom, adventure, and the growing car culture of the United States, lined with diners, motels, gas stations, and quirky roadside attractions. Although it was officially decommissioned in 1985 with the advent of the interstate system, Route 66 remains a cultural icon, celebrated in music, literature, and tourism, drawing visitors from around the world eager to experience a piece of classic Americana. In 2026, Route 66 will be 100 years old.

Join us and the @newmexicotourismdepartment, @santafegov , @artwalksantafe , and the Santa Fe Vintage Car Club on October 4, 2026, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as we celebrate the Route 66 Centennial at the Santa Fe Railyard.
